How do import and export email with Windows Live Mail

 
 
To export email messages from Windows Live Mail follow the step:
 
  1. Open Windows Live Mail by clicking the Start button. In the search box, type Mail, and then, in the list of results, click Windows Live Mail.
  2. In the upper-left corner, open the File menu, click Export email, and then select Email messages.
  3. Select Microsoft Windows Live Mail as the export format, and then click Next.

  4. Click Browse and browse to where you want to store the messages. Verify that the folder is empty.

  5. Click Next.

  6. Select the message folders that you want to export, and then click Next. You will get a confirmation that the messages were successfully exported. Click Finish.

 

 

To import email messages into Windows Live Mail follow the step:

 

  1. Open Windows Live Mail by clicking the Start button . In the search box, type Mail, and then, in the list of results, click Windows Live Mail.
  2. In the upper-left corner, open the File menu, and then click Import messages.
  3. Select the appropriate file format and then click Next. (Options include Microsoft Outlook Express 6, Windows Live Mail, and Windows Mail.)

  4. Click Browse and select the folder containing your exported messages, and then click Next. You can choose to import all the folders or only specific folders.

  5. Click Next. You will get a message confirming the file format used and that the import was successful.

  6. Click Finish. You can find the imported messages in the left pane, in a folder named Storage folders.
